ASSEMBLAGES

My assemblages, using porcelain and found materials are a range of hand built mixed media sculptures featuring birds, hares, foxes, flowers and bees. They are designed to either stand alone or hang on a wall.

I am a natural hoarder of things which I love to upcycle and recycle within my work. I regularly scour antique shops and reclamation yards to find that special item that I know one day I will be able to magic into a new piece.

Found objects, such as, wire, bolts, nails, screws and handmade sprigs are used to impress into the clay, which gives a strong textile quality to my work.

After a high temperature glaze firing in an electric kiln, each porcelain piece is gilded with gold, silver or copper, in order to catch the light and to give a sumptuous feel to each piece.
